Nomination Criteria

PURPOSE:

In 2002 the CSUCI University Foundation established the Business & Technology Partnership (B&TP) to foster the collaboration of technology and related service based companies with the University to promote excellence among its students, faculty and staff for the benefit of the region's economy.  In Spring 2005, the B&TP hosted its inaugural Annual Leadership Dinner to help raise funds for student scholarships and honored its first Technologist of the Year.  After the great success of this event, it was determined to make this a standing tradition in leadership recognition for Ventura County and the region.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

In order to qualify for the Technologist of the Year Award, nominees must be:

1.  A technologist within Ventura, Santa Barbara or northern Los Angeles Counties.
2.  Has contributed to or supported education.

EVALUATION:

Nominees who meet the initial eligibility criteria will be evaluated on the following traits, with relative emphasis indicated by points shown:

1.  Contributed to new and/or innovative products, processing technologies, or productivity leading to enhancing business  30 points
2.  Community Involvement & Leadership 30 points
3.  Promoting Quality Education  25 points
4.  Technology leadership skills 15 points

NOMINATION PROCESS:

Those interested in submitting a nomination must fill out an official B&TP nomination form. Forms are available on the B&TP web site at http://www.csuci.edu/about/btp/index.htm.  Multiple nominations may not necessarily strengthen the overall nomination; however, a nominee’s chances will not be penalized if several nominations are received. Self-nominations will be accepted.

SELECTION PROCESS:

1. Nominations must be received in the CSUCI University Advancement offices by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009.
2. University staff will screen nomination ballots to determine if eligibility criteria are met.
3. A judging committee of B&TP Leadership Dinner members will confidentially evaluate eligible nominees.

AWARD CEREMONY:

The CSUCI B&TP Technologist of the Year Award will be presented at the 5th Annual Leadership Dinner, scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Mandalay Beach Resort in Oxnard, CA.
