Director of Academic Advising
Sue Saunders is the Director of Academic Advising and Learning Support Services and has been with the Channel Islands campus since March 2000. Before arriving at CI, Sue had worked in the educational field for more than 20 years. She was the founding member of the Advising Center and her passion is student-centered advising, and is committed to providing quality advising services to all undergraduate students.
Advising Center, Support Coordinator
Beth has worked at CI since December 2007. She has worked in the public sector for almost 25 years including 10 years as a 911 dispatcher. She enjoys helping students, staff and visitors find what they are looking for on campus.
Assistant Director of Advising, Special Populations Coordination
Monica joined the Advising Center in 2006. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara and Master’s from California Lutheran University in Counseling and Guidance. Prior to CI, Monica worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.
Assistant Director of Advising, Technology Services Coordination
Todd Oberson is quite familiar with the CSU system, having completed his Bachelor's degree at CSU Long Beach and his Master's degree in Educational Leadership at San Diego State. Todd worked in international education at San Diego State and San Jose State. Prior to coming to CI, Todd worked for an Italian university, in particular with U.S. students and faculty interested in studying or collaborating in Italy.
Claudia joined the Advising Center in January 2014. She comes to CI after nine years of advising at the University of Nevada Las Vegas in the College of Fine Arts and the College of Education. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Film also from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
Peer Advising Coordinator
Sarah Johnson joined the Advising Center in 2011. Prior to coming to CI, she worked in academic advising, retention and student engagement, and residential and housing services. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Master’s degree in College Counseling and Student Development. Sarah enjoys working with students to persist and successfully reach their educational goals.
Kristen joined the Advising Center in November 2014. She graduated from CI in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She has studied abroad in Europe and New Zealand while at CI and has a passion for traveling. She continued on to a Master’s degree in Counseling from the Graduate School of Education at California Lutheran University. She is excited to be here at CI again as an Advisor to help students reach their academic goals.
Hannah is the newest member of the Advising Center. She brings with her nine years of student services experience from UCSB where she served as an undergraduate advisor, and a graduate program assistant. She has a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from UC Irvine, and is currently working on her master’s degree in Educational Counseling at University of La Verne.
