Sue Saunders Head Shot

Sue Saunders
Director of Academic Advising

Sue Saunders is the Director of  Academic Advising and Learning Support Services and has been with the Channel Islands campus since March 2000. Before arriving at CSUCI, Sue had worked in the educational field for more than 20 years. She was the founding member of the Advising Center and with a lot of hard work, turned a concept into a reality for students who need assistance. Her office is located on the first floor of the Bell Tower.  Her passion is student-centered advising, and she — along with her staff — is committed to providing quality advising services to all undergraduate students.

Leah Alvarado joined our staff in May 2003 with 6 years of higher education experience. She looks forward to meeting all the students here at CSUCI and working with them to accomplish their graduation goals.

Barbara Duffin Head Shot

Academic  Advisor

 

Barbara Duffin joined the advising center staff in 2002. Before coming to CSUCI, Barbara worked in higher education for over 8 years. In her previous position, she advised specifically Liberal Studies students, which makes her a valuable asset  to all of our Liberal Studies students.

Lynn  Hastings joined CSUCI staff July of 2007 after working 5 years in the UC system. She gained valuable experience working as an Academic Advisor and Academic Counselor.  Lynn is excited about being here at CSUCI and can’t wait to assist students in choosing classes.

Wendy Olson Head Shot

Wendy Olson
Advising Support Coordinator

 

Wendy Olson is the Advising Center Coordinator. Wendy has been at CSUCI since June 2002 and developed many of the administrative functions in order to get the center running full steam ahead and keep it running smoothly.  Before coming to CSUCI she had more than seven years of experience working in the Ventura County Community College District.  She loves working with staff and students, providing support and help wherever necessary. Please feel free to visit her in the Bell Tower with any questions about the advising center.

Janet Rizzoli
Articulation Officer

 

Janet Rizzoli has been the campus Articulation Officer since February 2004. Janet develops and maintains transfer agreements between California public schools and CSUCI. As part of her duties she also offers advising assistance to students during peak times. She comes to us from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with eight years of evaluations and articulation experience. Please feel free to contact her with questions regarding articulation. Janet's office is  located in the Bell Tower building.

 Sara Alcala  Admin. Assistant

 

 Sara Alcala has been the Administrative Assistant at the front counter in our advising center since September 2005. Sara has 6 years experience working for various types of schools, from elementary to university level.  She enjoys helping students and looks forward to assisting students with any questions they may have about CSUCI's advising center. She attended CSUN at Channel Islands as an undergraduate, which she feels, will help her interact more with current students.  Sara is located at the main advising counter in the Bell Tower.

 Monica Rivas Head Shot

Monica Rivas
Academic Advisor

Monica first interned with our department in August 2006 from California Lutheran University and was hired to a permanent position in September 2007.  Prior to her employment at CSUCI,   Monica worked for four years as a Vocational Rehab Counselor in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.  Monica went back to school to fulfill her goal of working with students as an academic advisor.  Monica looks forward to assisting students with any advising questions they may need answered.

 Chiara Lamb Head Shot

Chiara Lamb Academic Advisor

 

Chiara Lamb began her employment at CSUCI in December 2007, after working for eight years at Pepperdine University.  At  Pepperdine, Chiara served as an academic advisor for approximately 1000 students, evaluated transcripts and advised on all degree requirements from start date until completion of degree.  Chiara looks forward to learning about CSUCI and assisting students with any advising questions.
