Center for Excellence

The Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Development provides technical assistance, training and evaluation support to all funded programs of First 5 Ventura County.

The Center for Excellence provides:

Evaluation - Working with programs to track outcomes and increase the capacity of providers to do evaluation.
Education and Outreach- Serving as a clearinghouse for early childhood provider training information in the county and sponsoring train the trainer’s workshops.

Resource and Capacity Development - Enhancing the quality and expertise of early childhood providers, facilitating local community participation and empowerment, and expanding funding opportunities.
Community Partnerships - Supporting community collaboration and integration of services.

Targeted Studies - Conducting focused studies to increase knowledge about children in Ventura County.

We envision a future where all programs and services for children - especially those prenatal to five, their families and their caregivers - are developmentally appropriate and are of the highest quality. These comprehensive, integrated and family friendly programs and services enhance children’s optimum health and development, support families and communities in caring for children, and encourage children to be eager and ready learners in school and throughout life.

The Center for Excellence is located on the CSU Channel Islands campus and is funded by First 5 Ventura County.
