Professor of Economics

Dr. Ashish Vaidya joins California State University, Channel Islands as Professor of Economics. He began his academic career at CSU Los Angeles in 1991 in the Department of Economics and Statistics. He was Director of the redesigned MBA program in the College of Business and Economics. Dr. Vaidya’s research interests lie in the areas of economic integration and globalization and the role of the government. He has published research articles in the areas of strategic trade policy in leading economic journals, and is currently editing two volumes of the forthcoming Encyclopedia of Globalization. Dr. Vaidya has taught a variety of courses including International Trade and Business, Economic Development, and Economics of E-Commerce. In Fall 2001, Dr. Vaidya received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the College of Business and Economics at Cal State Los Angeles. He is recognized in the 1996 edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers".

Dr. Vaidya received his B.A. in economics from St. Xavier’s College in Bombay, his M.A. in economics from the University of Bombay, and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Davis in 1990.
