Welcome

Welcome to California State University Channel Islands where students are placed at the center of the educational experience.   You are entering CI at a unique time in history-- when we are building our Athletics Department from the ground up!

Building the Athletics  Department has been on the minds of students, faculty, staff and the local community members since the university opened its doors in August, 2002.  Over the years, discussions regarding the look of our athletics program and what our student athletes will represent have taken place in classrooms, residence halls, and faculty and administrators’ offices.  For CI, the student athlete will represent the best of the best.  We will not settle for second, whether it is in the classroom or on the playing surface.  We will live out the true meaning of what it is to be a student athlete at CI.

California State University Channel Islands has a unique opportunity to design and implement broad-based competitive sport and recreational programs that reflect all of the ideals of educationally focused and gender equitable student athletes, thus precluding the pitfalls that other colleges and universities have experienced with regard to sports programming.  The underlying philosophy of each competitive sport and recreational program is very simple-- to accommodate the needs of the students, the campus, and the larger community in which we reside.  Our competitive sport and recreational programs will be educationally based, we will focus on the needs and interests of the participants, and we will be fiscally responsible.

Please review the frequently asked questions section, and if you have questions or ideas to share, let us know.  By choosing to attend CI, you have made a choice to chart your own course as well as the course of our university.  This will be one of the most important chapters in your lives, and I am glad you have decided to spend the next few years with us.

Go Dolphins!!!
