Creating a Slideshow Using Picasa
The following will tell you how to make a slideshow of pictures using Picasa:
- If you don't have Picasa, it is a free software that you can download from this website: http://picasa.google.com/
- Open Picasa
- If you are a first time user, you have the option of letting Picasa scan your hard-drive and adding pictures automatically (recommended)
- Select the first image you want to upload to the web server for use of making a slideshow
- Click the "Upload" button
at the bottom of the screen
- Alternatively, if you want to use an entire folder for the slideshow, you can choose the folder and upload it entirely to its own album
- Sign in using a Google account;
- If you don't have a Google account, click the "Sign up for web albums" link
- On the resulting web page, click "Create a New Google Account and sign up for Picasa Web Albums"
- Fill out the required information and read through the terms of service
- Click the "I accept. Create my account" button
- Click "Launch Picasa"
- You may get a dialogue box saying that the link needs to be opened with an application; click "Ok"
- In Picasa, sign in using the username and password that you just created
- Create an album by clicking the "+New" button
at the top of the screen
- You can change the size of the picture to upload, as well as the visibility of the album
- When you have chosen your desired settings, click "Upload"
- You will see the progress of your upload in a dialogue box
- When the file has been uploaded, you can click the "View Online" button and be taken directly to your online album containing the image(s) that you just uploaded
- Continue the upload process until you have uploaded all the images that you need for the slideshow
- Go to your online album containing the images you just uploaded
- At the top left, click the "Slideshow" button
to view your images as a slideshow
Adding Captions to Images
- Click on one of the images that you wish to add a caption to
- Click "Add a Caption"
- Type your caption in the resulting field
- Click "Save Caption" when you are finished
- You can also edit your caption by clicking "edit"
Link to your Album for others to view your Slideshow
- Make sure that you are inside the album
- On the right side of the screen, click "Link to this album"
- Copy the url (ctrl + C or cmd +C on Mac) from the field titled "Place link in Email or IM"
- Paste the url into your email message or other means of sharing the album
