Creating a TurnitIn Assignment in Blackboard to Prevent Online Student Plagiarism

TurnitIn is a plagiarism prevention system and it has been integrated as a Blackboard building block. Instructor can create a TurnitIn assignment in Blackboard courses. Grade Mark features will be introduced.
Step One: Creating TurnitIn assignments for students (instructor)

- Creating a Turnitin assignment for students
- In Blackboard, click Control Panel, click a link under Content. Here we click “Assignments”
- Choose Turnitin Assignment from the drop-down list on the right hand side and click
Go
- Now the new version of Turnitin is available. The option of switching back to the
old version is available.
- We will try the new version here: fill in the required fields
- Click “More Options” link to add instructions and then click Submit
- Now a Turnitin assignment has been created under Assignments

- In Blackboard, click Control Panel, click a link under Content. Here we click “Assignments”
- Accessing and submitting a Turnitin assignment as student
- Students log in to Blackboard and click the Assignments on the Course Menu. Click
“view/Complete” link
- Students will be able to submit their Turnitin assignments in attachment.
- Students will receive a confirmation email after the submission.
- Students log in to Blackboard and click the Assignments on the Course Menu. Click
“view/Complete” link
- Grading student Turnitin assignments
- Login to Blackboard courses as instructor -> click Control Panel -> Course Tools -> Turnitin Assignments.
- Click the "View" link to access the student submissions for that assignment
- Select multiple or all of the student users and click the download button -> the student submissions will be downloaded and compressed as a zip file on your computer
- Click to view the originality report of each student submission
- Click the file icon to download individual submissions
- Click Grademark icon to grade individual student file onlin ( a pilot program in Spring
2009 at CSUCI )

The with the lock icon are the default items that can't be edited or deleted. You may create a new Quickmark or Quickmark set - Quickmark Palette

- Click New button to start your own rubric
