LMS Evaluation

Welcome

Learning Management Systems (LMS) provide virtual environments for the teaching and learning process. They support critical functions of online instruction and course administration, and have assumed an important role in higher education.  CSUCI began using Blackboard in Fall, 2002. Data is extracted from Peoplesoft and imported into Blackboard.

Over 70 percent of all instructors use Blackboard in varying degrees. Students consider Blackboard an essential tool for accessing information provided to them from their instructors. In short, Blackboard has become an enterprise application on our campus.

In order to meet the needs of the students and faculty, an evaluation of learning management systems will begin in the Fall of 2008. Under the leadership of the Academic Technology Advisory Committee, this process will include determining the requirements the system, polling faculty, students and faculty, and vendor demonstrations.

The purpose of this website is to provide information and progress on the evaluation progress.
