Civic Engagement
Civic Engagement: when we act to make a difference in our communities by participating in local, national and international government. This includes everything from texting or phoning your congress people to give them your point of view, to working on campaigns to elect officials that better represent your views, to attending a city council meeting and speaking on behalf of a cause in your local community.
The Center for Community Engagement encourages you to work for change by partnering with organizations who have already created a structure to address social issues (through Service Learning), or by interacting directly with others to create, change or modify laws and rules that make a difference in our communities.
To get you started in this kind of direct participation, we’ve provided contacts for your local, state, and national congress persons. Contact them, and let change begin with your voice.
