Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a vital figure of the modern era. His lectures and dialogues stirred the concern and sparked the conscience of a generation. The movements and marches he led brought significant changes in the fabric of American life through his courage and selfless devotion. This devotion gave direction to thirteen years of civil rights activities. His charismatic leadership inspired men and women, young and old, in this nation and around the world. Honor Dr. King with this unique presentation of his most famous speeches.

Miss Representation

Like drawing back a curtain to let bright light stream in, Miss Representation (90 min; TV-14 DL) uncovers a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see. Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the film exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.

Clothesline Project

Sexual Assault Awareness Week-The Clothesline Project was started by women in Massachusetts as a way to “air the dirty laundry” of sexual assault and give survivors a productive, artistic outlet for their anger and emotions. A traditional event serves as a visual reminder of the pain caused by all sexual assaults and the strength of all of those who survive it.
