Commencement Ceremonies

9 a.m. and 3 p.m. 

Dear Degree Candidate:

Congratulations on reaching this momentous occasion in your college education! We know that you have worked hard to earn your degree and we are proud to be a part of that experience.

In order to accommodate all of our graduating students and their family, friends and guests, CI's 2017 Commencement will include two ceremonies on Saturday, May 20 in the South Quad.

Please note: Tickets are not required for guests; however, parking is limited to those holding a university-issued parking pass especially for Commencement. Limit 2 per graduate. We ask that you make carpool arrangements and/or utilize the complimentary shuttle service from the Camarillo Metrolink station. For more information, visit our Transportation page.

The morning ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. and will only include the following academic programs for bachelor's or master's degrees:

  • Anthropology
  • Art 
  • Chicana/o Studies
  • Early Childhood Studies
  • Education
  • English
  • History
  • Liberal Studies
  • Performing Arts
  • Political Science
  • Psychology
  • Sociology

The afternoon ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. and will only include the following academic programs for bachelor's, master's or teaching credentials:

  • Applied Physics
  • Biology
  • Biotechnology & Bioinformatics
  • Biotechnology/MBA (dual degree)
  • Business
  • Chemistry
  • Communication
  • Computer Science
  • Economics
  • Environmental Science & Resource Management
  • Health Science
  • Information Technology
  • Mathematics
  • Nursing
  • Spanish

The Commencement ceremony at CSU Channel Islands is a candidate's ceremony and not a degree conferral ceremony. Participation in the ceremony does not guarantee degree certification. Candidates who are denied will receive notification by mail from the Records & Registration office. Denied candidates are required to reapply for graduation once all degree requirements are met.
