Eligibility for Services

Services are available to any qualified student who finds his or her disability to be a barrier to achieving educational goals. Disability Resource Programs (DRP) provides support services to students with physical, learning, psychological and/or sensory impairments that limit major life activities. Accessing accommodations through DRP requires several administrative steps:

  1. Register with DRP.  To register, students schedule an intake appointment at the Educational Access Center, Bell Tower Room 1541.
  2. Sufficient documentation of the disability, functional limitations and related needs is necessary. If the student possesses documentation of his or her disability, it should be brought to the intake interview. "Sufficient documentation" depends on the disability and is detailed on the documentation pages.
  3. Bring a completed Application for Support Services form to the intake appointment.
  4. Discuss disability-related functional limitations, accommodation history and current needs with the DRP coordinator.
  5. The DRP coordinator will provide the student with a “Determination of Accommodations” form stating which classroom and/or testing accommodations have been approved.  While it is also kept on file in the DRP office, this form is to be used by the student to share with faculty and others regarding his/her accommodation needs.

Students who bring in appropriate documentation and complete an Application for Support Services form are eligible for the accommodations determined during the intake interview.  Further accommodations may be provided if requested by the student and supported by the documentation.  Students can supply additional documentation to support new accommodation requests.

Continuation of Services

Once a student has established eligibility for services, he or she must request the service each semester and for each class that he/she needs the service.  Complete an Accommodations Request Form to request accommodation each semester.
