Transportation and Parking

By Car

Parking is available on Campus, including many handicapped parking spaces. Though parking lots are not far from the class room, a free “WAVE” bus stops at all lots on its regularly-scheduled circuit of the campus to drop you off at the class room building. Just “wave” to get your ride. There are several parking fee plans to suit different purposes.

  • You may purchase daily stickers (presently $6 per day) at machines in various lots.
  • You may purchase several daily stickers in advance at the Public Safety Building.
  • You may purchase a CSUCI student parking pass for the entire semester (August-December or January-May) at the Public Safety Building. The fee is presently $145 per semester. Note that the spring parking fee would encompass both our winter and spring sessions. If the permit is not used for the entire university semester (e.g., in the fall, when OLLI meets for 8 of the 16 weeks), the permit may be returned for a refund of 50%. Thus, the full semester permit is most economical if a member is on campus more than one day a week, or will be taking classes in the winter and spring sessions. Members are encouraged to come to campus frequently for courses, speakers, and the film series.
  • You may also park (free) at the Metrolink station in Camarillo, or several locations in Oxnard, and take the Vista bus (presently $1) to campus (see below).

Some members find car pools helpful in reducing costs.

Public Transportation

The Vista Bus system has regularly scheduled service to the university from the Metrolink station in Camarillo, Oxnard College, and Centerpoint Mall in Oxnard. The cost is $1 each way. Schedules will be available at the orientation meeting. A semester (16 week) pass is available for $50, entitling the holder to transportation on the Vista, SCAT and CAT systems. The CAT bus is available in Camarillo on a regularly scheduled, or dial-a-ride basis. It stops at the Metrolink station, enabling connection to the Vista bus to campus. Institute members may also choose to drive to the Metrolink station, park free of charge, and take the Vista bus to avoid parking fees.
