While an institution’s facility inventory (buildings and equipment) can be its largest fiscal asset, it’s never its primary mission. The facility is basically a resource that is called upon to provide an attractive environment and shelter expected to perform at a reasonable cost.

Operations is charged with the physical operation and maintenance to include routine work necessary to keep state-supported facilities, infrastructure, roads and grounds in good repair, appearance and operating conditions.

The work includes maintaining, operating, and repairing utility systems (electricity, water, gas, sewer, heat, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing and elevators. It also includes maintaining and repairing basic components of campus buildings and grounds (foundations, walls, roofs, stairs, ceilings, flooring systems, doors, windows, wall coverings, hardware, sidewalks and streets) along with maintaining the campus motor fleet.
