Earth Day 2016
Grounds workers from Facilities Services hosted a tree planting volunteer opportunity on Friday, April 22, 2016. 25 volunteers attended to help get 76 trees planted! Western Redbuds, Ironwoods, and Sycamores were planted along University Drive and in the restoration of Long Grade Creek.

This Way to Sustainability XI
On March 24-25 at CSU Chico, Facilities Services Sustainability and Operations Analyst Coleen Barsley presented on two topics. The first presentation was how CSU Channel Islands is working towards reducing water usage by “Slicing the Water Conservation Pie”. The second presentation was “Environmental Mitigation” which explains how Channel Islands is restoring Long Grade Creek and covers other topics such as native trees and plants on campus. Three students went on this trip as well in order to bring back even more information from this conference to integrate on our campus.
CHESC stands for California Higher Education Sustainability Conference. Facilities Services Sustainability and Operations Analyst Coleen Barsley is presenting “Slicing the Water Conservation Pie” to further spread the word on how CSU Channel Islands is conserving water. CHESC 2016 is to be held at CSU Fullerton from June 27th- to July 1st.
