Membership and Terms of Office

  1. 1)The committee shall consist of:
    1. Members of campus advisory committees shall include students, staff, faculty, and administrators who represent a variety of disabilities, academic disciplines, the business office and other sectors of the campus community that impact access for people with disabilities.
    2. Members shall be appointed by the campus president or designee with the exception of:
      1. Two faculty representatives appointed by the Academic Senate
      2. Two students (at least one with a disability) appointed by the Student Leadership and Development Office
  2. Members shall serve two-year terms, except for students who shall serve one-year terms. During the first year, the pairs of faculty and staff representatives shall determine by lot who shall serve a one-year term and who shall serve a two-year term.
  3. The committee may, by majority vote, decide to add up to five additional voting members, provided that such additions serve at least one of the following purposes:
    1. to add representation from a unit which is essentially involved in implementing necessary policy or facilities modifications
    2. to provide additional expertise required for the committee's deliberations
    3. to increase the representation of persons with disabilities on the committee, and particularly to increase the representation of persons with different types of disabilities. Such additional appointments are subject to annual renewal
  4. The committee may, by majority vote, invite representatives of interested community groups or agencies to serve as non-voting adjunct members, for the purpose of integrating university and community efforts to improve conditions for persons with disabilities.
