No. Content from existing student web space will not be moved to the new server. Students are responsible for downloading and transferring any documents or other data to their new student web space themselves.
If your students are creating a web application as part of their coursework, you should contact the IT Help Desk to request an “enhanced” web space. You will need to provide the Help Desk with the list of Dolphin User Names of students that require “enhanced” web space access.
IT staff will evaluate your request, and communicate with you regarding the request’s approval. Once approved, IT staff will create the enhanced web space to your required specifications and notify you of completion.
Requests for enhanced web space must be submitted by the course instructor; requests from individual students will not be processed.
Students who are creating web application for personal reasons outside of specific coursework should purchase an internet domain and web site hosting account with a commercial web hosting service provider.

No, FTP will no longer be supported as a protocol to access your student web space. Older clients (like Microsoft FrontPage and WS-FTP LE) will no longer be able to access your web space via FTP.
However, you may use any file client that supports the SFTP protocol. Examples include Adobe Dreamweaver, Filezilla, and WinSCP. Further details will be made available at: http://www.csuci.edu/it/web/studentwebspace.htm
