International, Federal, State and Local Law

Users must obey all laws which have jurisdiction over them. Violation of applicable laws is not permitted and will be referred to appropriate authorities.

Violations of any policy or law may be reported to abuse@csuci.edu. Criminal and/or University Policy violations will be referred to the appropriate authorities.

Some examples of the applicable laws which could apply to information technology resources at CSU Channel Islands are shown below.  Laws other than those listed below may also be applicable.

International Law

The United States has treaties and conventions with other nations that are binding to those who fall within their jurisdiction. Please visit http://www.un.org/ for more information.

The Laws of Other Nations

Many other nations have laws, such as slander and libel, which are much stricter than those in the United States.  Be aware that any statement made or actions performed could affect any assets within that country.  Also, future travel through such countries could open yourself up to prosecution under their laws for statements made or actions performed at an earlier time outside that country's sphere of influence.
