Wireless Access at CSUCI

Table of Contents

Overview

Updated August 14, 2009 - Wireless access at CSUCI has changed. A new network has been created (cci_connect) and the old wireless network (cci_wireless) will no longer be available as of Wednesday, August 19, 2009.

The CSUCI campus is serviced by over 200 wireless access points dispersed through out the campus facilities. A recent upgrade to our wireless system has allowed us to provide better services to the campus community. The new wireless networks will provide:

  • More wireless access points, giving greater coverage to campus facilities.
  • More secure connection using the highest level of security currently available.
  • Simplified wireless setup, removing the requirement to login every time you connect.
  • Guest and Visitors wireless access.

Depending on your role at CSUCI, you will have access to the services described in the Availability section.

Configure Your Computer for Wireless Access

For detailed instructions, please select your operating system:

Wireless Protocol Support

Campus access points will all support the 802.11g and 802.11b wireless Internet protocols. Some Wireless devices also support the 802.11a and 802.11n standard. Users with 802.11a capable wireless cards will be made to prefer 802.11a for connection rather then 802.11g, as there is less interference for this protocol.

Wireless Network Cards

To use your computer with the University wireless network, we recommend your computing device contain a wireless card or that you purchase an external wireless card for your laptop or desktop computer. 802.11g wireless network cards will support both 802.11g and 802.11b wireless connections. 802.11n wireless network cards will generally support 802.11a,b,g and n networks.
