New Orleans Volunteer
Kyle Morford, a junior liberal studies/international affairs major, spends much of
his free time volunteering for good causes. In his second trip to New Orleans since
Hurricane Katrina, he helped out in a food kitchen and relief camp. At top right,
Morford stands in front of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) trailers located
in New Orleans' Ninth Ward where some of the greatest damage occurred. The trailers
contained food for local residents. The bottom photo shows an area of the city near
where the levee broke that started the flooding of the city. Devastation such as this
is still commonplace. Morford, who has also volunteered in Guatemala, plans to travel
to Rwanda next summer to help start a co-operative venture to fund orphanages.
