CSUCI Application Deadlines Approach, New Majors Available In Fall 2008

Camarillo, Calif., Nov. 7, 2007 — California State University Channel Islands is encouraging those who wish to attend spring 2008 semester classes to apply before the Nov. 30, 2007, deadline. Enrollment in the spring semester is not open to first-time freshmen. On Dec. 1, 2007, CSUCI will no longer accept applications for the spring 2008 semester.

The application deadline for priority filing at CSUCI for the fall 2008 semester (2008-09 academic year) also is Nov. 30, 2007. Undergraduate programs in the fall 2008 semester are open to first-time freshmen, transfer students, second baccalaureate and teaching credential applicants. In past years CSUCI has closed to freshman applications for the fall semester on Dec. 1.

Prospective students for the spring 2008 semester or fall 2008 semester should apply at CSUCI online at www.csumentor.edu.

Beginning with the fall 2008 semester, CSUCI will add an applied physics degree program. Students who pursue a degree in applied physics can chose emphases in technology or physical science. California State University Channel Islands is the only campus in the CSU system to offer a bachelor of science degree in applied physics.

Additionally, beginning in the fall 2008 semester, CSUCI will offer a bachelor of arts degree program for Chicano/a studies and a master of arts degree program for English. CSUCI currently offers undergraduate degrees in art, biology, business, chemistry, communication, computer science, early childhood studies, economics, English: literature and writing, environmental science and resource management, history, liberal studies, mathematics, nursing, performing arts, political science, psychology, sociology, and Spanish.

Administrative services, education specialist, multiple subject, and single subject, and special education teaching credentials also are offered.
