
Camarillo, Calif., Nov. 9, 2007—California State University Channel Islands is co-hosting a symposium titled, “Ventura County Nursing Crisis: Education and Community Reponses” from 8 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16 at the Ventura County Office of Education. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Breakfast will be served.
The symposium is part of the Ventura Nursing Legacy Project, a grant program funded through the Partners Investing in Nursing’s Future initiative by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Northwest Health Foundation. Cal State Channel Islands and the Ventura County Community Foundation are the hosts of this symposium.
A representative from Congresswoman Lois Capps’ office will provide the keynote address on behalf of the Congresswoman. Capps’ represents California’s 23rd District, which includes Ventura County. The symposium also will feature recognized speakers who present national, state, and local perspectives on regional priority nursing issues. “Ventura County Nursing Crisis: Education and Community Reponses” will communicate locally-generated strategies that can inform policy and education solutions to address the regional nursing shortage. The symposium will further inform educators, practitioners, funders, and policymakers about best practices for improving the nursing education pipeline.
This event is a call for community participation and CSU Channel Islands (CABRN provider #13953) will offer 2.5 continuing education contact hours for registered nurses only. Additional information is available with an RSVP.
