Camarillo, Calif., June 13, 2011 – CSU Channel Islands (CI) Alumni & Friends Association invites alumni, friends and the public to join Provost Dawn Neuman, Hank and Leah Lacayo, Wayne and Barbara Davey and Carl and Nancy Wesely for their annual wine event, ‘Through the Grapevine’ on Thursday, June 30, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Magnavino Cellars, 961 North Rice Avenue, Suite 5, in Oxnard.

The event, chaired by long-time University supporter Barbara Davey, will feature wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres and live music in support of the CI alumni career programs.  Some of these programs include a special one-on-one mentorship night in which recent graduates are paired with a local professional within their field and are given the opportunity to learn about the realities of their industry.  They also learn the intricacies of networking and hear from special guest speakers talking to the value of networking or focusing on the Ventura County job market.

“CI graduates are the future workforce of our local community.  What better way to support your community and University than spending a fun evening with fantastic wine and music and great company.  Attendees will help fund unique career programs for young alumni, making a huge impact in their job search,” said Davey.

Classical guitarist Alberto Dal Pino will provide the musical entertainment for the evening.  He has been recognized throughout Italy, Germany and the United States as a prominent performing artist, lyricist, vocal arranger, composer and musician for his work in film, television and record albums.

Sponsors for the event are Southern California Gas Company, Integrity Bio, Inc., National Association for Women Business Owners (NAWBO), Dan and Kathy Anderson, Robert Cabral Consulting, Magnavino Cellars, DJ’s Catering, and Bar|Scan, Inc.

The cost for current members of the Alumni & Friends Association is $50.  Cost for non-members is $65 which includes an annual membership to the Alumni & Friends Association.  There will be a fine wine cash drawing with tickets available for $5 or 5 tickets for $20.
