Camarillo, Calif., Dec. 2, 2014 – CSU Channel Islands (CI) invites faculty from Moorpark College, Oxnard College, Ventura College, Santa Barbara City College and CI to submit applications for a highly innovative faculty fellowship program that brings together faculty to focus on transfer student success from a regional approach.

The 2014-15 Cross-Institutional Learning Community Faculty Fellows Program (CILC) provides opportunities for faculty from each campus to participate in learning communities offered through the Regional Teaching and Learning Academy. CILC fellows will work with colleagues from all five institutions to align systems, high-impact teaching and learning practices, curricular innovations, and student learning outcomes to one degree. In addition to participating in a professional development workshop series, CILC fellows will research, develop, and share best practices at an annual two-day Regional Transfer Success Summit and Transfer Student Success Academy, held on a rotating basis at each participating campus. Best practices in transfer student success will be aimed at bolstering the transfer, retention and graduation rates of students – particularly those from underserved and high-need backgrounds.

The yearlong fellowships are offered thanks to two five-year federal Hispanic Serving Institution grants totaling more than $4.3 million for Project ALAS (Aligning Learning and Academic Success) and Project iPath. In total, there will be five cohorts of CILC Fellows, with the first cohort starting in 2015. In subsequent years, the annual application process will open in the spring term for a new cohort of CILC fellows beginning in the fall term.

To be considered for the fellowships, applicants must submit their application no later than Friday, Jan. 23, at midnight. Interested applicants can request the CILC Fellowship application via email at cilc.fellows@csuci.edu.

CILC fellows will receive a stipend allowing them to participate in cross-institutional faculty learning community and professional development workshops offering training in a range of high-impact teaching and assessment practices that align with their fellowship focus. The Academy also offers ongoing discipline-specific working groups, online training, workshops/webinars, and virtual professional development opportunities, open to all faculty and staff from partner community colleges and CI.

The application period opens Monday, Dec. 1, and closes Friday, Jan. 23, at midnight. To apply and learn more, email cilc.fellows@csuci.edu, or contact Amanda Quintero, CI’s Director of Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives, at 805-437-3285 or amanda.quintero@csuci.edu.
