Camarillo, Calif., Jan. 30, 2015— The 2015 economic outlook is likely to continue with an improved labor market and falling oil prices, but there is still uncertainty with a weak global situation and market volatility.

Two economic experts will navigate this constellation of economic influences Friday, Feb. 13 from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at a special breakfast in the Grand Salon at CSU Channel Islands (CI) in Camarillo.

Wells Fargo Private Bank Chief Investment Officer Erik Davidson and Gary Zimmerman, a retired economist from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, will discuss the 2015 economic outlook during “What’s Next?” a presentation sponsored by the CSU Channel Islands Planned Giving Advisory Council.

Davidson and Zimmerman agree there is a lot going on right now on the global and domestic fronts that could affect our economy, but there is reason for optimism.

“While there are certainly many worrisome matters globally and domestically, there are also some exciting ‘megatrends’ underway as well,” Davidson said. “Against this backdrop of uncertainty, there are specific things that investors should and should not do to navigate their financial goals.”

Zimmerman said the uncertainty looming on the global financial front includes the Greeks voting in a leader who may want to renegotiate the country’s debt; the Swiss opting out of European Central Bank (ECB); and the ECB starting an asset purchase program to stimulate growth in the euro.

If the European economy slows, it could affect the U.S. economy, which has achieved momentum, Zimmerman said.

Other questions both experts will field will include predictions about when the federal government will raise U.S. short-term interest rates; nervous investors; the Greek elections; the Swiss franc; oil prices and a host of other forces that could shape our economic future.
