CI’s MVS Speaker Series

Camarillo, Calif., Sept. 8, 2016— Two entrepreneurs with businesses linked to the entertainment industry and a global leader in real estate software will speak during CSU Channel Islands (CI) Martin V. Smith (MVS) School of Business & Economics Fall Speaker Series.

The three presentations are Sept.16, Sept. 20 and Dec. 2. All are free and open to the public and lunch is provided.

“Contemporary Topics in Business and Technology” is a series of three prominent executives who will share their strategies for navigating a constantly changing business environment.

“We selected these speakers to provide our students and community members with insights into production/financing of films and animation and software development/support for commercial real estate,” said MVS School of Business & Economics Dean William Cordeiro, Ph.D. “These industries are vital to the economic growth of our region.”

Friday, Sept. 16, 2016— Andrew Egiziano, Owner, CounterPunch Studios

The owner of a full service Computer Generated (CG) animation studio in Culver City will talk about his 10 years of producing projects together with his team. Formed by Egiziano and production professional Kay Arutyunyan, the company provides full body and facial animation and “digital doubles” for actors, among numerous other animation services for television, motion pictures, commercials and video games.

CounterPunch projects include Supergirl, The Flash, Dhoom 3, Barbie Vlog, and a basketball simulation game called NBA 2K16.


Friday, Sept. 30, 2016—Harold Lewis, Founder, Pitch2Me

A financial executive who connects filmmakers with potential financiers will speak about risk assessment, cash flow and other aspects of film investing. In, 2005, Lewis founded FILMBANKERS LLC, a consulting firm that helped package film projects to potential investors.

Then, in 2010, Lewis founded Pitch2ME.com, a firm that matches finance industries with parties interested in making a film.

Friday, Dec. 2, 2016—Rob Teel, Senior Vice President of Commercial and Investment Management at Yardi Systems

Founded in Santa Barbara in 1983, Yardi Systems specializes in real estate software that manages over $1 trillion in assets. Teel is responsible for product development, support and consulting services for over 2,700 clients who are served by 18 offices and nearly 1,000 employees worldwide.

Teel will discuss the evolution of Yardi and technology trends in software, including how “The Cloud” has changed the internet technology landscape.

All presentations are from Noon to 2 p.m. in Malibu Hall, Room 100, on the CI campus at One University Drive in Camarillo.

Complimentary event parking is limited and only available in the designated parking lot.  Once on campus, follow the directional signage to event parking then follow the walking signage to the event location.  Free parking is available at the Camarillo Metrolink Station/Lewis Road parking lot with bus service to and from the campus.  In order to waive bus fares, riders should present their event registration confirmation when boarding the CI Vista bus, otherwise the cash-only bus fare is $1.25 each way. Buses arrive and depart from the Camarillo Metrolink Station every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday. For exact times, check the schedule at: www.goventura.org.
