Camarillo, Calif., May 31, 2016 — Small business owners wondering how to export their goods will get advice from a panel of experts at a free breakfast seminar scheduled for Friday, June 3 at CSU Channel Islands (CI).

The Institute for Global Economic Research (IGER), part of the Martin V. Smith School of Business, is hosting the event, which will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Malibu Hall, Room 100 on the CI campus.

“Most small businesses in Ventura County should and can export to increase and diversify revenue sources,” said Professor of Economics Sung Won Sohn, Ph.D., director of IGER. “Many small businesses believe incorrectly that exports are for large businesses and not for small businesses.”

Three regional small businesses that are not currently exporting will demonstrate the company’s service or product. Then, government export panelists will coach each specific company on how to go about exporting their product or service.

The panelists are: U.S. Export Import Bank Business Development Officer Marianne Hughes; Director of U.S. Commercial Service Los Angeles (West) Julieanne Hennessy; Export Solutions Group Office of International Trade Small Business Administration Regional Manager Martin Selander and Chair of Los Angeles Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association Mark Hirzel.

A Los Angeles company called 360 Power Group will demonstrate its new methods of creating efficient electric motors and generators. Executive Vice President R. Morgan Harwith has told media sources that one of their products could help less developed countries create power efficiently through a cell tower, enabling them to power lights, computers and cell phones as well as to purify water.

Ultraglas, Inc. is a full-service, ecologically sound custom glass design business in Chatsworth. Founder & CEO Jane Skeeter will discuss one of the most promising developments, Building Integrated Photo Voltaic (BIPV), glass panels that can create energy from the sun to power the building.

Finally, Greenbelt Resource Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer Darren Eng will demonstrate the company’s local scale modular systems that covert food, beverages and agricultural and industrial waste into fuel.

Breakfast is included at this free event, the public is welcome, and guests can follow the signage to complimentary parking.
