New students at Island View Orientation

New Student, Orientation and Transition Programs (NSOTP) supports University recruitment and retention initiatives by coordinating events, activities and services that integrate new students holistically (socially and academically) into the CI community. NSOTP consists of two programmatic elements: Island View Orientation and Transition Programs. (Photo at right: "Becoming a Dolphin" ritual during Island View Orientation.)

Island View Orientation

An Award-Winning Program!

The 2011- 2012 Orientation Leaders received the “Outstanding Program” Award at the CI Student Leadership Awards.

In 2013, Island View Orientation won the “Innovative Program of the Year” Award from the National Orientation Directors Association, Region II.

Island View Orientation is a comprehensive introduction to the University that prepares new students by providing information on academic and social resources.

Orientation is an exciting time on any college campus and serving as an Orientation Leader is a unique and rewarding opportunity.

Transition Programs

Open to both transfers and freshmen, our events assist in the transition of new and current students.
