Apply to be an Orientation Leader!
Dear Prospective Orientation Leader:
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the 2017 Island View Orientation Leadership Team. Orientation is an exciting time on any college campus and serving as an Orientation Leader (OL) is a unique and rewarding opportunity.
Orientation is the first introduction an entering student has to his/her new collegiate life. It plays a critical role in the transition process and can dramatically impact a student’s college career through engagement, involvement and excitement. As you will hear from previous team members, being a part of the OL team is an experience full of growth, learning and fun. We look forward to getting to know you and working together to make the class of 2021’s introduction to our great University an enjoyable and engaging experience.

Additionally, it is important you become familiar with and review the mission and goals of the Division of Student Affairs, the purpose and aims of Orientation Programs and the Dimensions of Development. Coordinator of New Student Orientation
Interested in joining the orientation staff? Please review the following information carefully and become familiar with the position you are interested in before applying.
As an initial component of the application process, candidates will be required to submit an application and will then be scheduled for three separate interviews: an individual interview with the Coordinator, an individual interview with a panel and a group interview. Individual and group interviews will take place the week of Monday, November 28, 2016. Initial position announcements** will be made after fall semester grades have been posted. All candidates are highly encouraged to attend the scheduled information sessions to gain a better sense of the position and the duties associated with the position. During the information session, the Coordinator will walk through the application process and explain the position expectations.

**Initial offers are contingent upon the candidate demonstrating the following: satisfactory GPA after fall 2016 grades have been posted; active participation in training; and commitment to the team.
All Orientation Leader candidates must acknowledge and accept the following mandatory trainings and events, if offered the position. Please check your schedule ahead of time to ensure your attendance. Failure to attend the outlined requirements below will result in dismissal from the position. If you have questions regarding the required trainings and events, please contact the New Student, Orientation and Transition Programs office at your earliest convenience.
