Planned activities are as follows for the week of 11/24/08:
· Data Center: The power supply and cooling capacity for the Data Center is being upgraded to meet increasing IT capacity demands.
Work on the Data Center during the week of 11-24-08 will include the installation of the new UPS systems and Power Distribution Cabinets.
· Smith Decision Center: The Smith Decision Center is a 4000 sf facility that will provide 60-station state of the art case study classroom and breakout rooms.
There will be a large equipment delivery on Monday 11-24-08, requiring a crane, which will block access to the rear courtyard driveway of Placer Hall. In addition, there will be ongoing deliveries and the usual noise, dust, and traffic associated with construction work.
· Solano Hall: Solano Hall will include 12 faculty offices, two 24-station classrooms and surge office space for tenants of University Hall and Bell Tower use while these buildings are renovated to provide new HVAC cooling and heating.
The contractors are conducting painting and finish operations. There will be ongoing deliveries and the usual noise, dust and traffic noise associated with construction work.
· Student Union: The 23,000 sf building will include a large programmable area for student gatherings, food services, lounges, game room and student
organization office.
Placement of the concrete slab will continue to take place through November 26. Expect ready mixed concrete trucks to be entering and exiting the campus from University Dr. to Los Angeles Ave. and the east gate of the temporary perimeter fence of the project.
· Infrastructure: This project will upgrade the old, unreliable infrastructure system and get the campus ready for future growth.
In the week of 11-24-08 the installation of the new sewer line will continue on Ventura Street in front of Solano Hall. A new manhole on the driveway between Solano Hall and Manzanita Hall will be installed, limiting access in that area. Pedestrian access to all buildings will be maintained. In addition, the installation of the new sewer line is in progress on the grass area on the East side of University Drive at the North side of Sage Hall. Foundation work is progressing at the New Central Plant as well as underground mechanical and electrical work.
