ACCESO Research

Academic year research opportunities are available for CI students who are majoring in STEM and for CI STEM faculty.  The Summer Research Institute is open for both CI students and regional community college students from Moorpark College, Oxnard College, Santa Barbara City College, and Ventura College. CI STEM faculty can participate in the Summer Research Institute as research mentors.

Academic Year Research Opportunities 

Students can apply to be hired as student assistants to conduct research in the Fall and Spring semesters.  All students hired as research assistants must present their research project at an appropriate conference or at the annual Sage Faculty Student Research Forum held in May each year. Applications are available here.

Summer Research Institute 

Student Applicants 

CI STEM students and students majoring in STEM from Moorpark College, Oxnard College, Santa Barbara City College, and Ventura College are encouraged to apply for a three-week research experience with CI STEM faculty as research mentors. A stipend of $1440 will be provided to students participating in this program. All students must be available for the duration of the three week program that will run from 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, from Tuesday, May 28 through Saturday, June 15, 2013.  Students must be returning as undergraduates in Fall 2013 to be eligible for the Summer Research Institute.

CI Faculty Applicants

CI STEM faculty (tenure-track and lecturers) are encouraged to apply to mentor 2 - 3 undergraduate student researchers for the three week program of the Summer Research Institute that will run from 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Tuesday, May 28 through Saturday, June 15, 2013. 

Every effort will be made to match students who apply for the summer institute with faculty members with whom they are currently working. All of our Spring 2013 Research Assistants have been invited to apply. Please recommend any other students you feel demonstrate potential to benefit from the Project ACCESO Summer Research Institute. They must be graduating Fall 2013 or later and should be in sophomore standing or above.
