This tutorial demonstrates how to add classes to your enrollment shopping cart and how to complete the steps to register for classes in CI Records.

  1. Navigate to your Student Center
  2. Click on “Enroll” under the Academics Section
  3. Enter the Class Number and click “Enter”
      If searching for a course:
    1. Click “Search”
    2. Select Subject
    3. Input course number (If known)
    4. Click “Search”
    5. Results will display. Select your class.
  4. On the Enrollment Preferences page:
    • You can add yourself to the waitlist by clicking the waitlist box.
    • If you need to add a permission number. Add it in.
  5. Click “Next”
  6. Verify Shopping Cart
  7. Click “Proceed to Step 2 of 3”
  8. Confirm Classes and Click “Finish Enrolling”
  9. If your status shows a green check mark. You were successfully enrolled. If you receive an error. You are not enrolled and need to resolve the error before you try enrolling again.

How to Drop a Class

  1. Navigate to your Student Center
  2. Click on the Dropdown Menu under the Academics Section.
  3. Select “Enrollment: Drop”.
  4. Click the arrow next to the dropdown menu to continue.
  5. Select the course to drop.
  6. Click on “Drop Selected Classes” button.
  7. Confirm the selection and click “Finish Dropping”.
  8. Confirm your status shows a green checkmark. This means you successfully removed the course. If you receive an error message as your status, you have not dropped the course and need to resolve the error.

How to Swap a Class

This tutorial demonstrates how to swap a class in CI Records. This process drops a currently enrolled class and adds a different class all in one action.

  1. Navigate to your Student Center
  2. Click on the Dropdown Menu under the Academics Section.
  3. Select “Enrollment: Swap”.
  4. Click the arrow next to the dropdown menu to continue.
  5. Select the course from the Dropdown Menu
  6. Click “Search” or Enter the Class number.
  7. Select a Subject.
  8. Enter the Course Number if known
  9. Click “Search” to continue.
  10. Select the new course from the listed options.
  11. Review the selection then click “Next”.
  12. Click “Finish Swapping” to confirm the new course.
  13. Confirm your status shows a green checkmark. This means you successfully removed the course. If you receive an error message as your status, you have not dropped the course and need to resolve the error.

How to Waitlist

This tutorial demonstrates how to add yourself to a waitlist for a class that is already full.

  1. Navigate to your Student Center
  2. Click on “Enroll” under the Academics Section
  3. Enter the Class Number and click “Enter” If searching for a course:
    1. Click “Search”
    2. Select Subject
    3. Input course number (If known)
    4. Click “Search”
    5. Results will display. Select your class.
  4. On the Enrollment Preferences page. You will notice a Waitlist Class Status.
  5. Add yourself to the waitlist by clicking the waitlist box.
  6. Click “Next”
  7. Click “Proceed to Step 2 of 3”
  8. Click “Finish Enrolling”
  9. A green checkmark indicates you were successfully added to the waitlist
    • Review the message letting you know your position on the waitlist

Please Note:

  1. Adding yourself to the waitlist does not guarantee enrollment in a class.
  2. . You cannot waitlist for a different section of a class that you are already enrolled in
  3. If waitlisted class has a time conflict with an enrolled class, you will never move off the waitlist.
  4. Review schedule frequently to see if you have been enrolled from waitlist. Notifications are not sent.

How to Search by Class Modality

  1. Navigate to your Student Center
  2. Click on “Search” under the Academic Section
  3. On the Search for Classes page
    • Select the Term
    • Select the Class Subject
    • Click the arrow next to Additional Search Criteria
    • Select Learning Mode as the Course Attribute
    • Select desired instruction mode for the Course Attribute Value
      1. Asynchronous: Fully Online course via Canvas with no scheduled meeting time.
      2. In Person: Class meets In Person on campus at scheduled times.
      3. Synch/Asynch Online Class: Class meetings via Zoom/Teams at scheduled time and via Canvas with no scheduled meeting times.
      4. Synchronous Online Class: Class meetings via Zoom/Teams at scheduled times.
  4. Click “Search”
  5. Only results for the Instruction Mode you selected will populate.
  6. Select a course or modify your search with new Course Attributes.

How to Enroll using Guided Registration

  1. First you will need to login to MyCI. Once logged in you will find CI Records. This will take you to your student center within CI Records.
  2. From here, you will click Enroll or Enrollment Shopping Cart. This page shows your shopping cart for the term you wish to enroll in.
  3. The Guided Registration addition is built into what I will refer to as “blocks.” At the top of the each block you will see your desired Major. For this example, the block refers to a Psychology Major. Each Guided Registration block will have a set of courses that you may choose from. Please note that each course could have a different class number, subject, number, description, day and time.
  4. Scroll to the option that best suits your needs and choose that course.
  5. This will take you to the Enrollment Preferences page, you can review and select next to add this course to your shopping cart.
  6. Please be sure to scan through the several blocks and choose the option that is best for you.
  7. As you navigate through the block and build your schedule, you will notice some courses may have a time conflict and are grayed out, this means there is a course you will need to adjust to your current schedule to accommodate the time conflict if you would like that course.
  8. Once you have selected and reviewed all blocks, you may review your shopping cart and make adjustments as needed.
  9. If you are happy with your schedule you can select your courses and select enroll. Please note : If you are a continuing student, unfortunately this video is not for you. Please use your Degree Planner and Schedule Planning tools at go.csuci.edu/gradtools.
