Volunteers play an important role in the services and programming that the Channel Islands Boating Center (CIBC) offers to the community.  One way to support the CIBC is by donating your time and energy!  We are always in need of people who want to help out and contribute to the CIBC.  


1. Please complete the volunteer application, click on the application (PDF, 90KB).  

2. Return the application by emailing Joshua Wade at  josh.wade@csuci.edu or return the application to the CIBC located at 3880 Bluefin Cir. Oxnard Ca 93035 during our open hours.  

3. We will review your application and contact you with 5 business days.   

4. We will schedule a time to complete a background check.

Below are some ways that you can spend your time volunteering at the CIBC:

INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS:  You will assist with a variety of instructional programs that may be on or off the water.  

  • Sailing, Kayaking, Stand Up Paddleboarding programs
  • Team Building/ Group facilitation programs
  • Special Events

FACILITY:  You will assist in projects that improve and/or maintain the facility and equipment.

  • Boat yard, dock, building and equipment maintenance and cleaning.  

EVENTS:  You will assist with set up, take down, registration, etc. 

  • Community Outreach Events
  • National Safe Boating Day
  • Special Events

MARKETING AND PUBLICATIONS:  You will assist with marketing for the CIBC and its programs for upcoming events.

  • Website
  • Writing/publication
  • Distribution
  • Event planning

OPERATIONS:  You will assist with various administrative needs in the office.

  • Filling and organization  
  • Data entry for registration documents and surveys
  • Answering phones
  • Printing and folding promotional materials
