Advising Center “Workshop Wednesdays”

These hour-long workshops will emphasize improvement of academic skills, such as study strategies, tips for test-taking, memory power, and time management. They will be offered at two different times on scheduled Wednesdays (11:00a-12:00p and 12:00p-1:00p), and will be held in the Science building lecture hall. To RSVP for a workshop, or if you have questions, please call (805) 437-8971. Library “Jumpstart” Workshops and Activities

The workshops being offered by the campus library will concentrate on increasing students’ knowledge of computer programs that they may use while attending CSU Channel Islands. Students will also learn how to navigate the library’s extensive resources more efficiently. Workshops will last from one to two hours. For dates, times, and more info, please follow the link below.

The campus library will also offer “A Book, a Pizza, and a Movie.” This activity is designed to introduce a work of literature to students, who will then enjoy pizza as they watch the film that has been based on that particular book. Students will be encouraged to read the book prior to “movie night,” and to stay after for a brief discussion session. This activity will be offered again during the spring 2004 semester.

C.H.A.P.s “Know Yourself” Workshops

The office of C.H.A.P.s will offer a series of workshops that focus on physical, emotional, and psychological well-being, as well as events that are career and health oriented. Self-Defense Workshop

The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques that teaches women how to defend themselves against various types of assault. The workshop is a total of 12 hours, which is divided into four three-hour sessions. Please RSVP to Jodie King or call (805) 437-8444. The campus RAD program is sponsored by the CSU Channel Islands Police Department. Date and time are subject to change.
