Commencement Ceremony:  Sat., May 17

California State University Channel Islands will mark its sixth and largest Commencement ceremony to date on Saturday, May 17 in the South Quad of the University’s campus. The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at approximately 12 p.m.

The University has identified 1,089 students, which includes those earning their undergraduate, graduate, and teaching credentials, for this year’s Commencement ceremony. This year CSUCI anticipates an audience of more than 7,000 who will attend the Commencement ceremony. For the 2007 Commencement ceremony, 930 candidates were eligible for graduation and 650 participated in the ceremony.

Senior Cris Powell, student body president, CSU Trustee A. Robert Linscheid, and University President Richard R. Rush will each deliver a short address during the ceremony.

On campus parking for the event is limited to those who have special-issue Commencement parking passes. Each student who has applied to participate in the ceremony has been issued two parking passes. Additional parking is located at the Camarillo Metrolink Station (Lewis Road) and in public parking lots in Old Town Camarillo (Ventura Boulevard). Continuous complimentary shuttle service from the Metrolink Station to CSUCI will begin at 7:30 a.m.

The Cove Bookstore will be open at its location in the Town Center. It also will host a booth in the South Quad that will be open before and after but closed during the ceremony.
