Take Back the Night (TBTN) is a student-led event that inspires both women and men to confront a myriad of social ills, including rape, sexual violence, domestic violence, violence against children, and violence against women. The unifying theme throughout these diverse topics is the assertion that all human beings have the right to be free from violence, the right to be heard, and the right to reclaim those rights if they are violated.
The event, which is part of Sexual Assault Awareness Week, will take place in front of the John Spoor Broome Library at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29. The event will include speakers, a student performance, resources and giveaways, a campus empowerment march and candlelight vigil. The event will conclude with an open mic. Free TBTN shirts will be given away at the event, while supplies last.
The event is free and open to the public (parking is $6).
