RECORDS
Student records maintained and housed by the Records and Registration office include enrollment, grades, degree evaluation, degree conferral, additional transfer credit evaluation and diploma orders. Many changes to student records are dependent on information provided by students such as name changes, residency reclassification, academic leave, transcript requests, change of program (add/drop) and change of major/minor. Students can access forms on the Records and Registration web page located at www.csuci.edu or in the Enrollment Center (please note: some forms require a fee, payable to the University Cash Services office located in the Enrollment Center, Sage Hall).
REGISTRATION
Registration activities for new and continuing students include eligibility for registration and assignment of registration appointments. Students enroll via the Internet at myCSUCI (http://my.csuci.edu). Assistance in registering for classes is available on the Records and Registration web page located at www.csuci.edu.
RESIDENCY
California residency for tuition purposes is initially determined at the time of admission to the University. A currently enrolled, non-resident student seeking reclassification must complete and submit a supplemental questionnaire, which includes questions concerning financial dependence, physical presence and intent. Refer to the residency web page located at www.csuci.edu for details and required forms.
GRADUATION
Eligible students must complete the Application for Degree and Diploma form to file for graduation. Degree verification must be for the term in which a student will have completed all University and major/minor requirements. Applications for graduation must be submitted by the deadline published in the Schedule of Classes. Participation in the commencement ceremony does not constitute graduation. Visit the Records and Registration website for forms and further details on the graduation process. (Please note: Fees apply and are payable to the University Cash Services office located in the Enrollment Center, Sage Hall).
VETERANS AFFAIRS
CSU Channel Islands supports the California Veterans Education Opportunities Partnership (VEOP). Students who are eligible for benefits as a veteran, dependent or reservist should contact the V.A. Specialist in the Enrollment Center for assistance in applying for educational benefits and education certification. Required paperwork must be completed each semester.
TRANSCRIPTS
Official CSUCI transcripts are ordered by completing the Request for Official Transcript form or by making a request in writing. In accordance with federal law, written requests must include the student ID number, date of birth, enrollment dates and student signature before an academic record is released. A transcript will not be issued until all outstanding obligations due to the University are cleared. Please allow five (5) business days to process routine requests. Official Transcript Request forms are located in the Enrollment Center.

The purpose of the Financial Aid office is to assist students in obtaining financial aid resources to meet their educational costs. To apply for financial aid, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, which can be obtained in the Enrollment Center or completed online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. A variety of financial aid resources are available to students, including grants, scholarships, loans and federal work study. After students have completed and submitted their FAFSA, they may be considered for the following:
GRANTS
Grants are federal or state funds that do not have to be repaid.
SCHOLARSHIPS
The University, in participation with the community, has an endowment that provides scholarships, which are based on academic excellence, financial need and community service. An annual scholarship competition occurs each spring. Applications are open to continuing CSUCI students, high school seniors and transfer students. Applications are available online at www.csuci.edu. Scholarships are awarded for the academic year beginning the following fall semester. Students must plan to enroll full-time to be eligible. The deadline for the 2009-2010 competition is February 16, 2009.
Many individuals and agencies in Ventura County have made it possible for the Ventura County Community Foundation to offer scholarships. Scholarship listings are available online at www.vccf.org by January 5 of each year and the deadline for application submission is in the month of February. Selection for scholarship awards is competitive and based on the merit of the applicants and the individual eligibility requirements of each scholarship.
For more information on scholarships at CSUCI, please visit the Financial Aid web page located at http://www.csuci.edu.
LOANS
Federally guaranteed student loans with low interest rates are available through Financial Aid.
Federal Stafford Loans include the subsidized and unsubsidized loan programs which provide low interest, long-term loans to eligible students through selected lenders. Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans are available to students based on financial need. Interest is paid by the federal government (subsidized) while students are enrolled at least half time (six units for undergraduate and credential programs or four units for students in a master’s program,) and during a six-month grace period after leaving school. Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans are available to all students without regard to income. Interest is paid by the student or added to the loan amount that will be repaid later.
FEDERAL WORK STUDY
Federal Work Study (FWS) is awarded to students with financial need. First priority will be given to students who were awarded a Pell Grant and applied before March 2. Students must indicate that they are interested in being considered for a FWS award when completing their FAFSA application. FWS provides employment opportunities to students both on and off campus. FWS requires students to be enrolled in at least six units during the semester. The amount a student may earn will be listed on the student’s award letter. The average FWS award is $3,000 per academic year. While the University will make every effort to award FWS to students, there is no guarantee that a student will have a FWS job placement.
