Records and Registration

Pre-requisite checking will be implemented for fall 2008 registration for some courses.

If you have not met the pre-requisite for any of the classes listed below, you will not be permitted to enroll in the course. You will receive an error message when registering that states "Error: Unable to add this class. Pre-requisites have not been met. Check the class description for a list of enrollment requirements."

Are you planning to take any of the following courses?

  • ACCT 220
  • ACCT 300
  • BUS 320
  • CHEM 110
  • CHEM 122
  • CHEM 311
  • CHEM 371
  • CHEM 450
  • MIS 310

If you are, please read on for guidance on how to avoid receiving an error and what to do if you receive an error...

Continuing Students

If you have not taken the pre-requisite, you will not be permitted to enroll. If you feel you have met the requirement and the system is still not permitting you to enroll, you must print your Unofficial Transcript (myCSUCI> Academic Records> View Unofficial Transcript) and take it to your instructor as proof that you have met the pre-requisite. Your instructor may give you a permission number allowing you to enroll in the course. Report the issue at records.registration@csuci.edu or stop by the Enrollment Center.

If you had previously petitioned for a course substitution and were approved, show a copy of the approved substitution form to your instructor as proof that you met the pre-requisite. Your instructor may give you a permission number which will allow you to enroll in the course. You may submit a Discrepancy Resolution Request (PDF, 25KB) to the Enrollment Center to correct the equivalency.

Transfer Students

If you have met the requirement at another institution but it is not reflected on your Transfer Credit Report (myCSUCI> Self Service> Transfer Credit> View Transfer Credit Report), you will most likely receive an error. If you receive an error, print the Transfer Credit Report and show it to your instructor as proof that you met the pre-requisite. Your instructor may give you a permission number which will allow you to enroll in the course.

Take steps to avoid errors before registration opens:

Prepare by reviewing your Transfer Credit Report located within myCSUCI at Self Service> Transfer Credit> View Transfer Credit Report.

If you took a pre-requisite course at another institution, ensure that it has transferred over with the correct equivalent. If it has not, you will not be able to enroll in the above courses.

You can do one of the following to correct your issue:

  1. If the course has been articulated as listed in www.Assist.org, submit a Discrepancy Resolution Request (PDF, 25KB) form to the Enrollment Center and we will correct it for you.
  2. If the course has not been articulated, you may be required to submit a Petition for Substitution at the Enrollment Center.
  3. If you have submitted an official transcript but the course is not posted on your Transfer Credit Report, submit a Discrepancy Resolution Request (PDF, 25KB) form to the Enrollment Center and we will correct it for you.

These options will allow you to register on your own once your transfer work is corrected.
