BP.05.001 - Designated Data Stewards by Data
As stated in BP.05.001, campuses must maintain an inventory of information assets containing level 1 or level 2 data as defined in the CSU Data Classification Standard (PDF, 67KB). These assets must be categorized and protected throughout their entire life cycle, from origination to destruction by the designated data steward. This page defines who the designated data stewards are and which category of data they are responsible for.

Information relevant to the employee life-cycle at Channel Islands. This covers all categories of employees (staff, faculty, and student employees) and all levels of employees (grounds worker up to the President).

Fiscal Record Data
Information relevant to financial processing at Channel Islands. This includes and is not limited to, accounting, budget, and all other aspects of fiduciary responsibility.
Finance and Budget
Information relevant to the maintenance and operation of the Channel Islands physical campus. This includes and is not limited to, all building structures, connecting infrastructure (piping, wiring, etc.), and physical security.
Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness
Information relevant to overall reporting of institution level reporting at Channel Islands. Although this data is combined and reported from other categories and sub-categories of data, institutional data needs to have oversight by its own defined owner.

Information relevant to the management of Environmental Health & Safety programs, training, and regulatory compliance monitoring.

Research & Sponsored Programs
Information relevant to supporting and assisting with securing funding and managing externally funded projects.
Information relevant to Alumni Programs, development/fundraising, and advancement services.
Information relevant to the duties of police officers including campus safety and security, patrol, emergency response, crimes investigation and reporting.
Chief of Police
Information relevant to the student admitting process at Channel Islands. This includes student application data, associated admissions communication data, and all data stored for a student up until they have been admitted.
Information relevant to financial aid processing of admitted students at Channel Islands. This includes all data related to financial aid processing through disbursements.
Information relevant to ongoing administration and processing of current students at Channel Islands. This includes all student data that is not admission or financial aid in nature and is associated with a students' curriculum and progression towards graduation.
Information relevant to the operation, maintenance, and security of technology and technological systems at Channel Islands.
