Technology Workshops
Academic Technology Services is pleased to offer free workshops as part of an ongoing Technology Workshop series. These workshops are intended to enhance knowledge and skills of University employees and organizations in the use of academic and web-related technology.

Web Accessibility
Prerequisites: None. A working knowledge of HTML is helpful.
Description: Introduction concept of accessibility as it applies to web content; overview of
accessibility law including Section 508; assistive technologies; review of each Section
508 checkpoint. Workshop will provide participants with hands-on experience in the
evaluation and repair of a non-accessible web site.
On-campus: Currently none scheduled.
EchoCI
Prerequisites: Successful completion of "Web Accessibility" workshop
Description: EchoCI is a web-based content management system that is used to create and maintain
web sites on www.csuci.edu. Course covers general use of EchoCI for creating and maintaining
web pages including logging on, editing existing pages, creating new pages, adding
images and links, uploading and linking to external files, and publishing to web servers.

CI Learn Introduction
Prerequisites: None
Description: Lots has changed in the new version of CI Learn that CI Learn now uses. One BIG
change is the lack of a digital dropbox. Come learn more or come and ask questions.

CI Learn Gradebook
Prerequisites: None
Description: The gradebook (now called Grade Center) has some added features. This one hour class
will answer your questions.

CI Learn Social Networking Tools
Prerequisites: None
Description: Learn how to create and manage wikis & blogs within CI Learn

Accessible Microsoft Word Document and Powerpoint Presentations
Prerequisites: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Powerpoint
Description: How to create more accessible documents and presentations. How to create well-structured
documents using images, headings, lists, and tables. You'll learn how these features
are readily available in this suite of applications.

Creating Accessible PDFs I (Introduction)

Description: An overview of the accessibility repair features available in Adobe Acrobat Pro
for repairing existing PDF files.

Creating Accessible PDF Forms using LiveCycle Designer
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Accessible PDFs I" workshop.
Description: Creating accessible, fillable PDF forms; when to use PDF forms; comparison to Office
and HTML forms.

Using Elluminate Classroom in CI Learn
Elluminate is an online collaboration tool that integrates with CI Learn that allows instructors and students to engage in meaningful and memorable interactions by combining interactive technologies with instructional best practices. The major features include:
- Real time interaction between instructors and students with audio and video
- Presentation archiving for synchronous use
- Instant messaging for public and private
- Electronic whiteboard
- Application sharing
- Polls, quizzes and surveys

Blackboard Roving Support Sessions
During the Spring 2013 semester Academic Technologies will be holding sessions to address all your Blackboard needs and questions. There will be 4 sessions held throughout the semester at various times and locations. You can view the schedule below.

How To Register
Advance registration is required to attend any Technology Workshop. Space is limited, and is provided to registrants on a first-come, first-served basis. Workshop format is typically presentation plus hands-on workshop. Some workshops have prerequisites; please review the "Workshop Descriptions" section of this document.
The deadline for workshop registration is 12:00pm on the business day before the workshop you wish to attend.
To register: please complete the requested information on the Technology Workshops Registration page. You will receive a confirmation email of your enrollment within 8 hours. Web Services reserves the right to cancel any workshop if minimum enrollments are not met within 3 business days of workshop.
