College for a Day: Imagine, Believe, Achieve is designed to serve migrant K-5th grade students and their families from Ventura County school districts. This on-campus program supports the countywide P-16 initiative to promote a university-going culture in Ventura County.  Migrant directors must apply to participate and selected migrant programs will be allotted space for 200 students and 50 parents/guardians.  This event will be held on March 9, 2013, at the CSU Channel Islands campus. Applications are due January 2013; please see below for additional information.

College for a Day Schedule Breakdown

8:30 a.m.:  Visiting School Arrives

9:00 a.m.:  Student and Parent Check-in

9:30 a.m.:  Welcome to CSU Channel Islands

10:15 a.m.:
K-2nd Grade:   Track 1: "Building Your Future" & Meet College Students

3rd-5th Grade:   Tour of CI

11:05 a.m.:
K-2nd Grade:   Tour of CI

3rd-5th Grade: "I'm Going to College" & Meet College Students

12:00 p.m.:  Closing Ceremony

12:45 p.m.:  Depart CSU Channel Islands

From 10:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., parents are exposed to workshops including “Ayuda Para Su Estudiante,” “Reflections from Former Migrant Students,” and a Q&A session.  Workshops are delivered in Spanish and hosted by CI faculty and staff.

College for a Day Availability and Application Process

College for a Day is available to all migrant programs in Ventura County. As a means to allow all programs equal access to this exciting university experience, migrant directors must fill out an application to be considered for participation in this event.  The migrant program(s) will be selected to participate in College for a Day scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 9, 2013.  Your migrant program must be available to participate on this date.
