CI participating in National Study of Undergraduate Students & Technology
For the first time, CI will participate in the ECAR National Study of Undergraduate Students and Technology. The study will invite all CI students to report on their use and perceptions of technology. The survey was announced to students during the week of Feb. 20, and will be available for four weeks. ECAR, the EDUCAUSE Center for Applied Research, is the research arm of EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology.
By participating, CI will learn more about student attitudes, using the information to provide technology that best meets student needs and wants. The University will also be able to compare the responses from our students with those at hundreds of campuses that participate in the study, which is now in its ninth year.
Blended Learning Preparation Program
The Blended Learning Preparation Program (BLPP) began on Feb. 17 at CI. BLPP is a program being run through a partnership between Academic Affairs, Teaching and Learning with Technology Initiative, and Academic Technology Services. BLPP is designed to guide faculty through a process of redesigning courses from a traditional delivery where students meet face-to-face, to a blended format in which a portion of the seat time is replaced with online instruction. The program is designed to help faculty make effective use of technologies to improve student learning.
BLPP sessions will focus on the pedagogy of blended instruction and innovative technologies. The following ten faculty members have been selected to participate in the inaugural semester of BLPP:

National Bike Registry comes to CI
The CI Police Department has teamed up with National Bike Registry (NBR), the official bicycle registration service of the National Crime Prevention Council, to offer students, faculty, staff and University Glen residents a free and effective way to protect their bicycle, in case it is stolen.
The CI Police Department is giving away an NBR Bike Registration Kit (a $10 retail value), to any bike owner in the community who requests one, on a continuous basis throughout the semester at Police & Parking Customer Service, located in Placer Hall.
The NBR kit includes a 10-year NBR registration, a special tamper-resistant label for the bicycle, and a bonus label that gives the user BoomerangIt Lost & Found Return Service for one additional personal item of value like a cell phone or laptop computer. Bicycle owners simply apply the labels from the NBR bike registration kit then go to the NBR secure database online, by phone or mail to register the serial number and description of the bicycle.
Then when the lost item is found, a police officer or a good samaritan can call 800-848-BIKE or accesses the NBR website at www.nationalbikeregistry.com to trigger a notification to the owner.

Women’s Recognition Luncheon Nominations
Each year the Center for Multicultural Engagement and Multicultural Programs hosts a Women’s Recognition Luncheon to honor women who foster the growth and development of our community through leadership, service and dedication.
This year’s event honors the National Women’s History Project theme, “Women’s Education…Women’s Empowerment.” Any member of the campus community can nominate an exceptional female leader or group/organization that has fostered the growth and development of the community.
