Phil Hampton, Professor of Chemistry and Director, HSI-STEM grant, poses with students
from Oak Park High School who participated in the fourth-annual Science Carnival at
Thurgood Marshall Elementary School in Oxnard. An estimated 1,500 school-age children
were in attendance. CI students, faculty, staff, the Free Radicals chemistry club,
and dozens of members of the local business, education and scientific communities
volunteered their time to lead experiments and help with the event.
