Degree Checklist

This checklist corresponds with students' CI Academic Requirement Reports- CARR, students should refer to their individual report to compare with this checklist.

An overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 is required

  •  Total courses attempted (combined CI and Transfer)
  •  CI courses attempted
  •  Courses in the major
  • Courses in the minor (if applicable)
  • Note:  Certain majors require specific GPA for all major courses

General Education Requirements 

  •   CSU General Education certification *
  •   Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum Certification (IGETC) *
  •   Category A English Language, Communication and Critical Thinking
  •   Category B Mathematics and Sciences
  •   Category C Fine Arts, Literature, Languages and Cultures
  •   Category D Social Perspectives
  •   Category E Human Psychological and Physiological Perspectives

*  If completed at community college

UDIGE/GWAR

9 units Upper Division Interdisciplinary General Education (UDIGE) courses numbered 330-349 or 430-449, 3 units must be from a discipline outside the student’s major. Graduation Writing Proficiency Requirement (GWAR) met with these three courses.  These courses must have a grade of C or better.

History and American Institutions Requirement

  • U.S. History
  • U.S. Constitution, California State and Local government

Language

  • 1 semester college level foreign language other than English (with a grade of C or better)

Multicultural

  • Potentially satisfied through an approved GE course with a grade of C or better

Total Units 120 minimum

Upper division 40 units minimum (courses numbered 300+)

Residence Requirements for CI

  • 30 units completed at CI (excludes Open University and extension)
  • 24 of the 30 units must be upper division
  • 12 of the 30 units must be in the major
  • At least 9 of the required 48 general education units must be taken in residence at CI
