Degree Checklist

This checklist corresponds with students' CI Academic Requirement Reports- CARR, students should refer to their individual report to compare with this checklist.

An overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 is required

  •  Total courses attempted (combined CI and Transfer)
  •  CI courses attempted
  •  Courses in the major
  • Courses in the minor (if applicable)
  • Note:  Certain majors require specific GPA for all major courses

General Education Requirements 

  •   CSU General Education certification *
  •   Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum Certification (IGETC) *
  •   Category A English Language, Communication and Critical Thinking
  •   Category B Scientific Inquiry and Quanitative Reasoning
  •   Category C Arts and Humanities
  •   Category D Social Sciences
  •   Category E Lifelong Learning and Self-Development

*  If completed at community college

UDGE- Upper Division General Education

Three courses of Upper Division General Education (UDGE). One upper division course from each area of GE B, C and D.

  • UDGE-B Scientific Inquiry and Quantitative Reasoning
  • UDIGE-C Arts and Humanities
  • UDGE-D Social Sciences

History and American Institutions Requirement

  • U.S. History
  • U.S. Constitution, California State and Local government

Language

  • 1 semester college level foreign language other than English (with a grade of C- or better)

Multicultural Perspectives

  • Satisfied through an approved GE course designated by MP or by an articulated community college course. 

Total Units 120 minimum

Upper division 40 units minimum (courses numbered 300+)

Residence Requirements for CI

  • 30 units completed at CI (excludes Open University and extension)
  • 24 of the 30 units must be upper division
  • 12 of the 30 units must be in the major
  • At least 9 of the required 48 general education units must be taken in residence at CI
