Disqualified students must demonstrate improved academic performance (raise GPA) by completing additional coursework through Open University at CI. To be considered for reinstatement, disqualified students must have:

  • CI GPA must be at a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Cumulative GPA must be at a minimum 2.0 GPA

Steps for Reinstatement

1.  Attend Open University at CI

Disqualified students’ only route to improve their CI GPA is by taking courses through the Open University program here at CI.  It its recommended that students repeat courses and utilize the GPA Calculator to determine the amount of courses necessary through Open University.  Students are limited to 24 units through Open University. 

  • Disqualified students are not eligible for financial Aid.  Please contact the Financial Aid for more information.  
  • It is important to note:  Fees and registration are different through Open University.  Please refer to the Open University website for more details.

2.  Petition to Reinstate

A Petition for Reinstatement must be submitted by the published deadline, along with a 1-2 page report/account of why you should be considered for reinstatement. Include the following:

  • Why you received deficient grades in all semesters at CI
  • What has changed since you were disqualified
  • How you have improved
  • What you will do to continue good academic standing

Note:  Students will be informed on reinstatement decisions by the Academic Appeals Board.
