Disqualified students must demonstrate improved academic performance (raise GPA) by completing additional coursework through Open University at CI. To be considered for reinstatement, disqualified students must have:

  • CI GPA must be at a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Cumulative GPA must be at a minimum 2.0 GPA

Steps for Reinstatement

  1. Take classes through Open University and community college if applicable.
  2. Raise your GPA to a 2.0; use the CSUCI GPA calculator for assistance.
  3. Meet with an academic advisor to review the Re-Entry form and create a Reinstatement Action Plan. (PDF, 83KB)
  4. Submit a Petition for Reinstatement to the Academic Appeals Board by published deadline.
    1. July 1st for fall reinstatement
    2. December 1st for spring reinstatement
  5. Include the following with your Petition for Reinstatement:
    1. A letter addressed to the Academic Appeals Board
    2. Documentation of hardship or circumstances that led to deficient grades. (if applicable)
    3. Transcript(s) if completed coursework at another school (can be unofficial transcript)
    4. Letter of recommendation from professor or staff (optional)

Note:  Students will be informed on reinstatement decisions by the Academic Appeals Board.
