The Center for Multicultural Engagement and Multicultural Programs is spearheading an effort to bring awareness to, and open up dialoge about, civility and social responsibility in responses to recent local and national hate crimes and suicides.

Civility posters were placed throughout campus in fall and spring of the 2010-2011 academic year promoting the campaign. A Get on Your Soapbox event was held in spring 2011 that garnered over 20 students, faculty and staff perspectives on the meaning of civility. The event was filmed and the groups of diverse campus community members were shown during freshman orientation in the summer of 2011 during a multicultural networking session, to inform incoming students of the diverse perspecitves and inclusive environment we promote.
