March Board of Trustees Meeting

On March 20th, 2018, Facilities Services' Sustainability and Operations Analyst Coleen Barsley attended the Board of Trustees Meeting to present research on "CSUCI's Multifaceted Approach to Address Ocean Litter and Microplastics" by Dr. Clare Steele of the ESRM department. This research addresses the many issues that result from microplastics (plastics smaller than 5 millimeters long) ending up in the ocean and subsequently in coastal food webs. Ways in which CI students are involved in microplastics and ocean litter mitigation, including on-campus and beach clean-ups and the creation of marine debris art, were also highlighted at the meeting.
