Day of the Dead is a day to honor and remember loved ones that have passed away. It is commonly celebrated throughout Latin America with rich traditions from decorating gravestones and altars in homes with sugar skulls and food.

At CSU Channel Islands, we celebrate the Day of the Dead by creating a collaborative program with the Art department, student organizations, and with the help of faculty and staff. Together they help create a day-long sand mural art installation and altar installation at Broome Library. In addition to educating the CSU Channel Islands community about the culture by providing interactive activities throughout the day.

On Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Broome Plaza, we will be offering free face painting, crafts and performances open to students, faculty, staff and the campus community.
