The Lavender Brunch is CI's adaptation of the Lavender Graduation, which was created by Dr. Ronni Sanlo when she saw the need to recognize how LGBT+ students struggle through their college years while dealing with the coming out process.

She recognized the need of establishing a campus community that supports and celebrates LGBT+ students. Since then, each campus has adopted their own way of recognizing the struggles and successes for LGBT+ community members.

At CI, this celebration originally started as the Rainbow Reception to recognize individuals in the LGBT+ community who have made accomplishments throughout the University. Now called the Lavender Luncheon or Lavender Brunch with the goal of recognizing individuals from the LGBT+ community is maintained.

The 2018 Lavender Brunch information will be posted in the Spring 2018 semester.
